A radio-controlled switch connected to a lamp in the assistant's room can be used as an alarm on trips when assistants stay in another hotel room.

Check the electrical outlets and current in each country and bring an adapter and/or transformer if necessary.
Another solution can be a wireless baby monitor (see picture).
