A sitski for persons who use wheelchairs and compete in skiing
Description
A fiberglass seat is mounted on a ski with a standard binding. It has a soft suspension. The angle of the seat can be adjusted with a strap (see red band in photo 2). The backrest is available in different heights and the seat in different widths.
The legs sit on a leg guard (see associated tip). The knees are pulled up against the chest, which improves balance.
Ski poles have underarm support like crutches; the height is adjustable. On the bottom is a folding ski for the pole. Folding the ski pole up provides a grip in icy snow and on the slopes.
In order to ride the lift (button and anchor lift) the sitski has a rope that sits attached on the right and left side of the seat. The rope is hooked onto the lift.
Skiers can also ride the chair lift, (see associated tip).
Model: Monoski from Praschberger
