Start » Open and close terrace door in adapted house
A simple modification enables a person with a high spinal cord injury to open and close a sliding door without assistance
Description
A looped cord hangs from the handle of the sliding door. To open the door the user holds on to the loop with his elbow and drives backwards with the chair. To close the door he presses his hand against the door's metal frame and drives forwards.
Authors comments
The terrace door is heavy and has become harder to operate over the years, but the user can still open and close it.
