Mouth stick

An important assistive device for a person with a high spinal cord injury that can be used in many different situations

Description
The mouth stick is made of bamboo and has a rubber tip on one end. The mouth stick is used in many different situations, for driving a car, bathroom visits, to adjust clothing, etc.
The user always has the mouth stick with him. He stores it between his knees; when he drives a car it sits in a holder on the brake and accelerator control, see associated tip.

Anders began to use the mouth stick for driving the car. The mouth stick made it easy for him to handle the gearbox. Since then, he has found that the mouth stick is useful in many different contexts.
Previously he had a mouth stick made of ordinary wood, but it was not durable enough. The bamboo stick lasts much longer.
According to the user it is important to practice using the mouth stick to avoid injury to the gum and teeth. He also warns against using the mouth stick unnecessarily. He has had problems with his teeth.
