Start » Riding a Sitski
With Sitski a wheelchair user can ski with others on the same terms and manage independently on all lifts and slopes
Description
The sitski turns on the slopes by leaning toward the side where you want to go. With flipped ski poles (see associated tip) the user gets a hold in the snow and can back up the slope with the sitski.
Authors comments
It is best to learn how to ride a sitski at ski school. Most people learn how to balance in five lessons. The right pole settings make it possible to relax while riding.
People with reasonably strong arms can do just fine on their own. Quadriplegics ride with high backrest and can even manage the chair lift independently.
Sitski can be rented from Nordic Sitski or Hundfjället in Sälen.
