Holding a pen – techniques for people who lack finger function
Description
The user squeezes the pen between the middle and ring finger and supports it on the webbing between thumb and forefinger (photo 1 and 2).
Alternatively, the user places the pen between thumb and forefinger and holds the fingers together with a rubber band (see photo 3).
Authors comments
The pen sits securely between the fingers to allow the user to write short notes. Using a rubber band to hold the fingers together allows the pen to sit more securely in the user’s hand, but the disadvantage is that the rubber band presses on the fingers.
