Writing orthosis in the user's hand
Start » Writing splint; assistive device for writing
Assistive device for persons who cannot hold a pen
Description
An orthosis shaped for the hand rests against the palm and thumb. The pen is screwed into the orthosis between the thumb and index finger. The orthosis is made of Orthoplast and covered in leather or painted black.
Authors comments
If the OT-Center has a plaster cast of the hand, the orthosis can be made without the user being present. In addition, plastics can be used that require heating to a higher temperature than the hand can tolerate to become malleable. These plastics are more stable and durable.
